Poem, Bitter on the Tongue, 3-7-12

Flattened by the peeking
behind past's open curtain
losing straight out of face
vitality that's certain

Wilting from exuberance
drooping from fatigue
optimism stamped out
numb in disbelief

Like watching television
Like gossiping among
Like blaming others for
your epic stumbling block

Pick your sweet self up now
feel the sweet warm sun
know that life is sweetened by
bitterness on the tongue
